For later versions of Windows, the form placement was not saved correctly as the Genie.ini file was written to a location that is no longer writable to by non administrator users. The Genie.ini file has been moved to the \etc folder in the Shared Data Directory. This affects some other programs as well.

Support has been added for logging card presentations while a door is open. This is added to firmware 4.72+.

Credential OK is reported when a valid credential has been presented at a reader connected to a door that has Reed Bypass set, and so does not monitor for the door opening.

(Professional Only) A new feature has been added which allows Genie to automatically logon the currently signed on Windows user. A user must be added to Genie with the same name as the Windows user. A new feature has been added to automatically log off operators after a period of inactivity at a workstation. The major change in this release is the way in which the Graphics handles sizing of underlays. With this release, the size of a drawing will be set to match the size of the underlay. If a different size is required, it can still be achieved by stretching the drawing workspace and then resizing the underlay.

Under some circumstances, the displayed state of a point would not change when the point state changed. It happened most commonly on the popup window from which point commands are issued. This has been fixed.

Changing the panel group to which a panel belonged did not correctly terminate the panel from its original group and restart in the new group. This has been fixed.

Communications

When a panel was restarted there would sometimes be a delay before the communications started polling the panel. The length of the delay related to how long the timeouts had been set for the panel. This has been fixed.

Downloading Changes

The communications program has been changed to better handle download attempts when a panel is offline. If a download message is sent to the panel and fails due to the panel not responding, an error message is now displayed.
Some bugs relating to detecting that a panel is offline, and suppressing downloads have been fixed.
A new report has been added to display Panels with Downloads Waiting. This report is available from both the Points Centre and the System Reports.

Live Text Points. A new format of live point has been added that allows an operator to set the text to be displayed. Previously the text options were the point state or the point description.
Live Rectangle Points. A new format of live rectangles has been added that allows an operator to set some text in the rectangle. The colour of the outline of the rectangle indicates the point state. Previously live rectangles were outlines or solid, with no provision for text to be displayed.

Computer Name Issues

When computer had a name more than 15 characters in length, Version 2.3.0 and 2.3.1 did not handle this properly, and there were problems with installing these updates.
15 characters is limit set by Windows for the computer NetBIOS name. Genie uses the NetBIOS name to identify the Master computer. If the name was longer than the 15 characters Genie stored, the names did not match, and the message 'Waiting for Server' would appear when Genie was restarted.
Genie now correctly handles computer names longer than 15 characters.

With changes to Windows, the recommended location for files has changed.Genie will now install files into the directories recommended. A new option has been added to allow partitioning for Graphic Drawings.The Operator Groups Wizard has been modified to allow selection of a list of drawings that may be accessed by operators in the group. A new tool has been added to 'lock' either the static elements, eg lines, or live elements, eg points, so that items will be ignored if accidently selected when trying to edit closely placed items. If, for example, the background is correct but an icon is not quite in the right place, the background can be locked by locking static elements, and only icons will be selected for editing.

Licence Upgrade

The Genie Installation Setup has been changed to include an option to upgrade the licence only. The application files will not be changed, and the only changes to the database will relate to licence options. This allows the setup to be used to change a licence even though Service packs have been installed, and will not undo the effects of the service packs.

A new report/export has been added to export data suitable for using in Roster comparison for TriMicro Payroll systems. There are two reports available. 

1. Report by Employee Code. 

2. Report by Users Number. 

Report by Employee code requires that the Employee code field be entered for each user in the system. This field is then part of the data exported for TriMicro.It is expected that this information will also need to be added to the TriMicro database. 

Report by Users Number uses the internal Genie Users Number to identify each user, and removes the need to input employee codes.The Users Number will still need to be added to the TriMicro database to cross reference users. Note that the Genie Users Number IS NOT the same as the Genesis User No in the panel. The Genie Users Number is displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the Users Centre. It is also listed in the Users General Details Report.

Dates from 2016

The firmware in some Genesis panels does not support dates from 2016 and later. Changes have been made to the user data downloaded from Genie so that if a date is programmed for 2016 or later, and the panel firmware will not support it, the date is changed to 31 December 2015 when the data is downloaded. Genie will still show the 2016 or later date. This applies to the User Expiry Date, User Code Change Date.
